GT America powered by AWS took to Sebring International Raceway for qualifying, with drivers battling the bumps, heat, and intensity of the Florida circuit as they set the grid for the upcoming race. The session saw momentum shift throughout the field, with late improvements shaking up the order across multiple classes.
SRO3 Class
Memo Gidley wasted no time putting the No. 56 SKI AUTOSPORTS Audi R8 LMS GT3 at the top of the charts, going fastest by three seconds in the opening stages of the session. However, Tony Davis quickly responded in the No. 04 HP-Tech Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, posting a time of 2:02.795 to move into provisional pole position, with Mirco Schultis slotting into second in the No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R. Gidley fought back in the closing minutes, moving into second place again with six minutes remaining.
Kyle Washington mounted one final charge on his last lap in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, but ultimately settled for second place, just 0.8 seconds behind Davis. Gidley completed the Top 3, followed by Schultis and Ross Chouest in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Corvette Z06 GT3.R to round out the Top 5.
GT2 & Cup Class
David Lecko set the benchmark in the Cup class, putting the No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8 at the top of the category. Corey Deeds kept the pressure on in the No. 8 5.2 Motorsports Ginetta GTP8, but Lecko held firm to secure the top spot in class.
Lawrence Tomlinson also delivered a strong qualifying effort for Ginetta in the GT2 class, claiming pole position in the No. 62 Dollahite Racing Ginetta G56 GT2.
GT4 Class
Series veteran Jason Bell returned to action in strong form, going quickest from the start in the No. 89 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4. Craig Lumsden followed in second place in the No. 610 Colorado Motorsports by Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT4, completing the GT4 class order.
