Gidley Grabs Home-Turf Rowe Pole Award at Sonoma

GT America powered by AWS competitors took to Sonoma Raceway for an early morning qualifying session to kick off the 2026 season. With cool and stable conditions greeting the field, drivers wasted no time attacking the technical Northern California circuit in pursuit of pole position for Race 1.

Across all three classes: SRO3, Cup, and GT4, the pace came quickly, with lap times tumbling as the session unfolded. In the end, it was Memo Gidley (SRO3), David Lecko (Cup), and Craig Lumsden (GT4) who secured pole positions in their respective categories.

SRO3 Class

The battle for pole position began immediately, as Joel Cortes in the No. 19 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) laid down the early benchmark before being quickly eclipsed by Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI AUTOSPORTS Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II.

The two drivers traded fastest laps in the opening minutes, setting the tone for a competitive session at the front of the field. Gidley eventually gained the upper hand, delivering a strong lap of 1:35.802 to establish a commanding 0.585-second gap over the field at that stage.

Behind him, the remainder of the top five continued to shuffle as drivers found improvements lap after lap.

A late push from Marc Muzzo in the No. 013 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 nearly stole pole position, as he set a 1:35.808, cutting the gap to just 0.006 seconds in a dramatic final run.

Cup Class

In the Cup class, David Lecko in the No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8 set the pace, putting together a clean and consistent session to secure pole position with a best lap of 1:44.795.

Lecko remained uncontested at the top of the timesheets, continuing a strong start to RacingSupport’s debut campaign in GT America powered by AWS.

GT4 Class

The GT4 category saw lone contender Craig Lumsden in the No. 610 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO perform, posting a 1:58.555 to secure class pole.

Lumsden’s lap stood as the benchmark in GT4, positioning him strongly at the front of the field heading into Race 1 as he looks to build on momentum from his debut season.
