- DXDT, Chevrolet Maintain Strong Form
- Practice 2 Results
The GT America powered by AWS grid returned to the track for Practice 2 early Friday morning at Road America for the Crown Coins Casino GT World event. It was another strong showing from Blake McDonald, who once again set the benchmark after also topping Practice 1 the day prior in his No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
McDonald’s pace kept him at the head of the field for much of the 30-minute run, reinforcing his early weekend form, while Kyle Washington slotted into second early on in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R.
Justin Rothberg was running in fifth for most of the session in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, but he made his move just past the halfway point, climbing to third with a little over 10 minutes remaining. Moments later, Memo Gidley turned up the pace in the No. 56 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII, charging into second place to split McDonald and Washington.
Rothberg was therefore bumped to fourth place, with Ross Chouest completing the top five in his No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
The session came to a premature end with just under three minutes on the clock, bringing out the red flag and freezing the order.
McDonald’s back-to-back practice-topping performances, paired with late-session pace from Gidley and Rothberg, set the stage for a tight qualifying battle in GT America at Road America.
