Practice 1 for GT America powered by AWS got underway this afternoon under clear skies at the legendary National Park of Speed, setting the tone for an action-packed Crown Coins Casino GT World at Road America weekend.
Blake McDonald topped the timesheets in the No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, clocking in a best lap of 2:06.118. The Corvette driver edged out Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII by just 0.631 seconds, with the veteran racer keeping the pressure on throughout the session.
Ross Chouest secured third in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, further cementing Corvette’s strong presence at the sharp end of the grid. Jason Bell, piloting the No. 2 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO, and Justin Rothberg in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 completed the top five.
