The 2024 season of GT America powered by AWS featured a thrilling array of top-tier moments, as veteran racers went head-to-head with up-and-coming talents. In the SRO3 class, the championship hunt was truly electrifying, with the smallest of margins separating the frontrunners. Meanwhile, in GT4, a new face on the scene put on a display of utter dominance. The series captivated fans across the country, visiting the most exhilarating circuits that America has to offer.
As SRO America gears up for an exciting 2025 season, with new changes on the horizon, let's take a look back at the standout performances that defined this past year.
• Heading into the final rounds of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, there was a three-way fight for the championship title between Jason Daskalos, Johnny O’Connell, and Justin Rothberg. The margins could not have been slimmer, with only a few points between them all. Although Rothberg swept the weekend at the Brickyard, it was O’Connell who ultimately took home the crown, coming out on top by one single point over the young gun.
• One driver stood above the rest nearly all season long in the GT4 class. Despite it being his first year competing in the series, Rotek Racing’s Isaac Sherman was quick to make a statement, marking his arrival with seven consecutive victories, before going on to add another five to his rally. In total, he won thirteen out of the sixteen races. Suffice to say that his performances were in a league of their own, allowing him to clinch the class championship title early at Barber Motorsports Park.
• Alan Grossberg was awarded the championship trophy in the GT2 class, running a partial season that saw him score four wins and two podium finishes.
• The series made its return to the streets of Long Beach for the third and fourth rounds of the season, joining the NTT INDYCAR SERIES for the Grand Prix of Long Beach in front of packed grandstands and lively crowds.
• There were five different winners in the SRO3 class who all made their way on to the top step over the course of the season. In GT4, this honor was consistently split between Isaac Sherman and ACI Motorsports’ Curt Swearingin.
• Six different SRO3 drivers had achieved the Fastest Lap Award over the course of the year. Notably, Jason Daskalos went quickest on four separate occasions, the most of any driver in the class. He set the fastest lap of the season at Long Beach, with a flying lap time of 1:19.511 in Race 1.
• Unsurprisingly, Isaac Sherman was the speediest in the GT4 class, setting the fastest lap of the race a total of thirteen times, consistently raising the bar at each and every round.
• There were a total of 356 racing laps across the sixteen 40-minute rounds, with both races at Long Beach being the rounds that saw the most laps recorded at 30 apiece.
