- Sofronas, Audi Dominant in SRO3
- Sherman, Porsche Strongest in GT4 Class
- Practice 2 Unofficial Results
It was smooth sailing as the GT America powered by AWS field returned for another 30 minutes of track time at the Speedway. With one final opportunity to test and refine their setups ahead of Qualifying tomorrow, every lap was crucial.
James Sofronas and Isaac Sherman were once again the clear frontrunners in both the SRO3 and GT4 classes after going quickest again in their respective GMG Racing and Rotek Racing machinery.
SRO3 Class
James Sofronas and Justin Rothberg were neck and neck as the laps flew by, consistently swapping positions on the leaderboard as the minutes elapsed. When all was said and done, it was James Sofronas who went quickest in Practice 2 on board his No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3, emulating his rapidness from earlier this morning. With a best lap time of 1:25.046, he improved upon his previous quickest time, and further established a gap between himself and the next-closest competitor.
Rothberg appeared to be comfortably sitting in second place in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, but it was Kyle Washington who went on to improve and snatch away the position in his final laps with his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R, dropping Rothberg to third in the process.
Johnny O’Connell and Jason Daskalos were close to each other on the timesheets yet again, wrapping up the top 5 in the SRO3 class with their championship contending No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 and No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
GT4 Class
Gray Newell held the top spot for the opening 10 minutes with his No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, but Isaac Sherman eventually went on to take over as the fastest driver yet again, with a best time of X in his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Newell settled for second, just 0.135 seconds ahead of Curt Swearingin in third position in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Alan Grossberg made his second appearance in the top 5 today with his No. 102 TPC Racing McLaren Artura GT4, concluding Practice 2 in fourth. After a challenging opening session, Nicholas Shanny bounced back with his No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82 to claim fifth.
