Rothberg and Sherman Light Barber Ablaze in Qualifying

It was a hazy morning at Barber Motorsports Park as the GT America powered by AWS field set off bright and early for their fifteen-minute qualifying session. As the championship nears the final stages, every little advantage matters.

Justin Rothberg and Isaac Sherman added another pole position result to their tally in their respective SRO3 and GT4 classes, both putting in standout performances.

SRO3 Class

Justin Rothberg soared to the top of the timesheets in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, with a lightning quick lap time of 1:22.835 earning him the ROWE Pole Position Award for Race 1. He showcased his impressive pace, with the next closest qualifier, Bryson Morris in the No. 64 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, finishing 0.254 seconds.

Johnny O’Connell in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 will be starting this afternoon’s race from the second row on the grid alongside Kyle Washington in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R. Ross Chouest completed the top 5 in his No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

With the championship leader starting directly behind Rothberg, this face-off will be one to watch, as O’Connell seeks to extend his points lead, while the young talent is looking to get closer to the frontrunners in these final rounds.

GT4 Class

Isaac Sherman and Curt Swearingin were back to their old antics yet again, keeping each other honest as they chased pole position in the GT4 class. With the championship title in his sights, Sherman found a little extra edge to place his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in first position, with the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport lining up in second.

Gray Newell has another podium result within reach as he qualified in third with the No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, ahead of Todd Parriott in fourth in the No. 31 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 and Nicholas Shanny in fifth in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82.
