The GT America Powered by AWS field wrapped up the morning running with another 30 minutes of track time. With temperatures rising and lap times quickening, drivers continued to put it on the line in Practice 2 of the Grand Prix of Long Beach presented by 5.11 in preparation for the Qualifying session taking place later in the afternoon.
Johnny O’Connell once again set the fastest time of the session both in the SRO3 class and overall standings, while Aaron Farhadi returned to the top in GT2, and Isaac Sherman continued to stretch his advantage in the GT4 Class.
SRO3 Class
Johnny O’Connoll lit the timesheets ablaze in his No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3, once again earning the top spot on the leaderboard as he continued to get faster and faster throughout the session, finally setting a flying lap time of 1:19.424.
Jason Daskalos remained well within reach in his No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, just a mere 0.179 seconds off O’Connell’s best time. He was followed by James Sofronas in the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3, with this trio all preparing themselves for a close battle for pole position later in the day.
Kyle Washington was also within striking distance, setting the fourth-fastest time on board his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R, with Mirco Schultis also settling into the Top 5 on his final lap of the session with his No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette Z06R GT3.
GT2 Class
The GT2 Class was an evenly matched field once more, this time with Aaron Farhadi leading the pack in his No. 127 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, followed by Dan Knox in the No. 10 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT2.
Brent Holden made another Top 3 appearance in his No. 44 GMG Racing Mercedes-AMG GT2, with CJ Moses and Alan Grossberg following suit in the No. 58 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2 and No. 102 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2.
GT4 Class
Isaac Sherman further solidified himself as the favored frontrunner in the GT4 Class with another standout performance in his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. He was accompanied by teammate Robb Holland in the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, who remained within half a second of Sherman’s top time.
Gray Newell secured another Top 3 time with the No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, with Elias Sabo and Todd Coleman adding another two Aston Martin entries into the top results, following in fourth and fifth in their respective No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports and No. 69 Archangel Motorsports entries.
