The GT America powered by AWS turned its first laps in Practice One at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS weekend. A total of 26 entries make up the field for the weekend with the addition of the GT2 Class. While the GT2 Class heats up in its return, the championship battles for SRO3 and GT4 driver's wage on.
SRO3 Class
Adam Adelson topped the charts in Practice One with a Best Lap of 1:25.633 in the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R. Memo Gidley shook down his No. 101 TKO Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 and finished the practice second fastest in the class with a 1:25.659. Jason Daskalos reminded Gidley he’s still hot on his heels in the Drivers Points Championship in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
GT2 Class
Lighting up the return of the GT2 Class was the No. 80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT2 of Dan Knox. His Best Lap was a 1:29.505. Kevin Woods in the No. 094 Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. KTM X-Bow GT2 went second quickest with a 128.653. Third in class was CJ Moses in the No. 58 Audi R8 LMS GT2, who turned a 1:29.933.
GT4 Class
Robb Holland in the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS was a quick study of the IMS road course. He turned a Best Lap of 1:31.394. Ross Chouest wasn’t too far off Holland's pace as he set a lap of 1:31.929 in his No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. Rounding out the Top Three was Elias Sabo in the No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 with a lap time of 1:32.503.
Let’s Go Racing
The Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS weekend continues with Practice Two at 4:10 p.m. Qualifying kicks off Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. sharp and is followed by Race One of the weekends at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, gives the GT America powered by AWS field a break as it's dedicated to the fourth running of the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS. The 2023 season comes to a close on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 8:35 a.m. with Race Two.
