VIRginia International Raceway and GT America powered by AWS teamed up to welcome campers and early risers with the sweet sound of GT3, GT4 and GT2 cars. The series brings a grid of 24 cars with seven manufacturers making up the entry list. It is the first time this season the GT2 Class makes an appearance with CJ Moses in the No. 58 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2.
SRO3 Class
In the SRO3 Class Memo Gidley had his No. 101 TKO Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 dialed in by the end of practice. He turned a 1:46.685 lap time to top the charts before the checkered flag fell. The No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 of George Kurtz, 2023 Le Mans winner, had the second-best lap time with a 1:46.643. Falling just behind him on the timesheet was Jason Daskalos in the No. 27CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 with a 1:46.703. The top five in the class were all tightly packed with Anothony Bartone turning a 1:46.732 in the No. 427 RealTime Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Scott Smithson wrangling a 1:46.948 out of his No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
GT4 and GT2 Classes
In the GT4 Class drivers got up to speed quickly as the humid air slowly warmed. Elias Sabo in the No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 came out swinging. He turned a best lap time of 1:54.965 making him the fastest in the class. His teammate Jason Bell in the No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR followed closely behind with a lap time of 1:55.585 gracing the board. The third fastest was Robb Holland in the No. 099Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. His fast lap was a 1:55.691.
CJ Moses and the No. 58 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2 sat out the first practice session.
