Practice One and Done at NOLA; GT America powered by AWS Practice Reignites Competition

It’s time to break out the beads as the party for GT America powered by AWS began with Practice One at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 30-minute session ran clean and green- no purple or gold needed.

The 2.75-mile, 16-turn circuit offered fair skies and warm temperatures for drivers in their first official outing. Testing on the previous day was delayed due to rain in the bayou. Teams didn’t skip a beat getting back to work after three weeks of downtime following Sonoma Raceway.

SRO3 Class
George Kurtz in the No. 04 Crowdstrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 ranked supreme in the SRO3 Class. Kurtz has been topping charts in multiple series, GT America is no different as he turned a 1:35.946. Scott Smithson in the No. 08 DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3 was nearly a second behind Kurtz with a 1:36.718. Adam Adelson in the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R continues to show speed. He rounded out the top three with a 1:36.828. Johnny O’Connell needed no time to readjust. The No. 56 SKI Autosports Ferrari 458 Italia was fourth in practice with Anthony Bartone in the No. 427 RealTime Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 rounding out the top five.

GT4 Class
Elias Sabo in the No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 paraded back to the paddock plenty proud as fastest in the first session. He ran a 1:44.735 as fastest in the GT4 Class. He was followed by Robb Holland in the No. 099 TRG Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 who ran a 1:44.784 and points leader Jason Bell in the No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. Rounding out the top five was Tony Gaples in the No. 5 BlackDog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4 R and local Ross Chouest in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.
