Watkins Glen, New York - For only the 12th time in SRO World Challenge history, Upstate New York will be abuzz with the sound of sports car racing as GT America powered by AWS takes to the legendary, high-speed 3.45-mile-long tarmac next weekend. After an action-packed weekend at VIRginia International Raceway last month, this prestigious East Coast track marks the midway point of the season as racers head closer and closer to the season’s end in early October.

GT America is sports car sprint racing at its finest. Featuring multiple classes and just 40 minutes to get it done, it's a mad dash to the finish line as international motorsports’ top manufacturers duke it out for top-podium finish. For this fourth weekend of the 2022 season, 27 racers will line up in grid behind the wheel of BMWs, Chevrolets, Mercedes-AMGs, Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Toyotas, and Audis.

SRO3

The #27 Daskalos Racing Audi R8 LMS driven by Jason Daskalos was flying high before VIR, claiming two wins and a second-place finish so far this season. VIR wasn’t as kind, though, with Daskalos claiming fifth and third place finishes for Race 1 and 2. George Kurtz, on the other hand, is on a roll. The #04 CrowdStrike Racing by Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 driver is currently leading in season points after sweeping the weekend at VIR, as well as a first and third place finish at St. Petersburg.

However, Zelus Motorsports isn’t far behind, who swept Sonoma back in April and are on some nice momentum after grabbing second and third place in Race 1 at VIR. Both Jason Harward and Jeff Burton, piloting the #88 and #191 Zelus Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Harward will also be looking to defend his 2021 title at the Glen as well, proving that this team is a force to be reckoned with, and might see a nice boost in points by Sunday evening.

Team Hardpoint's PJ Hyett will do double duty at his first SRO weekend, joining the GT America grid in the #00 Porsche 911 GT3 R. He'll co-drive with Gunner Jeannette in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS as well.

GT4

2021 series champion Jason Bell in the #2 GMG Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 has had a solid 2022 so far, and will be looking to repeat his 2021 win on this iconic Northeastern stretch of tarmac. Bell also grabbed repeat third place finishes at VIR.

However, Gray Newell in the #25 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR finished right behind him in Round 6, and earned a second place finish at the Glen last year—you won’t want to miss the battle between these two Astons for this year’s installment.

Hattori Motorsport's Seth Lucas makes the switch to the Sprint championship. He'll represent one of the four Toyota GR Supra GT4 entries on the grid in the #016.

GMG Racing sits atop in the championship so far, followed closely by Chouest Povoledo Racing and SRQ Motorsports. Ross Chouest in the #50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMG GT4 wasn’t too far off the podium at VIR, and it will be interesting to see if he can shrink his deficit with GMG by either repeating his third place finish at the Glen in 2021, or nab the title from Bell.
