Kurtz Leads GT America powered by AWS in Practice 1 Session

17 June 2022 GT America

Alton, Virginia - After a month’s hiatus from racing action, the GT America powered by AWS got underway at VIRginia International Raceway with George Kurtz in the #04 Crowdstrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 with the fastest time during an abbreviated Practice 1 session, with the fastest lap of 1:46.041. He led the field over the #191 Zelus Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3, driven by Jeff Burton, followed by the #56 SKI Autosports Ferrari 548 Italia GT3 piloted by Andy Pilgrim who debuted their car at this weekend’s event.

In GT4 action, last year’s class champion Jason Bell in the #2 GMG Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4  is still looking for the top step of the podium this season and made inroads towards that goal by leading the class with a time of 1:55.289. He was followed by the #79 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 driven by Chris Gumprecht. Rounding out the top three was Adam Adelson in the #120 Premier Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

The first practice session was delayed due to a lengthy red-flag stop. The session resumed with only about two minutes left on the clock.

Practice Session No. 2 begins at 1:45 PM EST.
