DXDT Racing Keeps Win, Podium Run Going at Circuit of the Americas

AUSTIN, Texas – Circuit of The Americas threw a lot at DXDT Racing during a jam-packed weekend that included six races, three different SRO America race series and two entirely different weather conditions. But the Statesville, N.C.-based team specialized in recovery and success with class wins in both GT World Challenge America and TC America, and fightback efforts in GT America over the course of the weekend. Despite attrition out of the team’s control, the customer racing program produced highly organized effort, delivering successful results and gaining valuable points in each championship contention.

GT AMERICA

George Kurtz’s two GT America powered by aws races at Circuit of The Americas included one race that failed to go to plan and a second with an impressive recovery drive. The driver of the No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes AMG GT3 sought to extend his winning streak to three races in as many events of the newest SRO America series, but did not even get the chance. In race one, at Turn 11 of the opening lap, another car had contact wtih Kurtz’s left rear tire when attempting to pass him for third overall. The two cars collided and spun out. Kurtz was able to bring the car back to the pits, but retired with terminal toe link damage. After expert repairs by his experienced crew, Kurtz started 19th in the 22-car field, but had an excellent first lap where he passed 10 total cars. He added five more by the end of the race to finish fourth overall.

The team also welcomed CJ Moses back to the fold, able to start his season on Sunday in second’s race in the sunny conditions. The driver of the No. 58 CrowdStrike Mercedes followed Kurtz through the field, up from 20th on the grid to ninth overall by the checkered flag in a clean and solid drive.

UP NEXT

The next race weekend for DXDT Racing occurs closer to home at VIRginia International Raceway, June 4-6, at the track in Alton, Virginia just outside of Danville. That will mark Rounds 5 and 6 of the GT World Challenge America, GT America, and TC America seasons, just a little more than two hours north of the team’s Statesville, North Carolina headquarters

#58 CrowdStrike/ DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3

I was happy to get my first race under my belt. It didn't go exactly to plan, but my whole effort at this point is to get out there, get lap and seat time, learn and get better each time. I'm looking forward to VIR. It's my home track, so I know it well. Now if I can spend some time in the Mercedes-AMG, I think I'll be able to at least stay with the pack and see if we can work our way toward the front.
