SRO America Senior Technical Official Mike Pasquale Mourned in Passing

11 March 2021 GT America

Austin, TX - SRO Motorsports America staff and competitors today remember Series Technical Official Mike Pasquale after news of his passing yesterday. Pasquale, a beloved World Challenge/SRO Motorsports America staff member for over two decades known around the paddock for bad puns and big hugs, passed away from COVID-related complications.

Pasquale's career in racing began in the late 60s with him assisting Timing and Scoring duties for the SCCA Club Racing program with his brother, Ed, the Chief of Timing and Scoring. Their early accolades include helping to score some of the first Trans-Am races.

After a stint away from racing, he returned as both driver and tech in SCCA events that eventually led him to volunteering for the then-named Speedvision World Challenge series. In his personal career retirement, he was able to dedicate more time to racing and eventually worked his way up to become a constant personality in the SRO America paddock. Mike most recently served as a Pit Lane Official, working closely with teams and stewards across all SRO America championships.

“All of us at the SRO are gutted at the loss of Mike,” said Greg Gill, president and CEO of SRO Motorsports America. “Anyone who met Mike became a friend of his. His love of life and service to North American motorsports will be greatly missed. We will strive to continue Mike’s legacy of love, laughter, and service.”

The entire SRO Motorsports Group offers its deepest condolences to the Pasquale family and his friends in this difficult time.
