- Maiden pole for Peter Dempsey
- Damir Hot Surges to the Top in GT4
- Provisional Qualifying Results
The fifteen-minute GT America qualifying session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway saw a new contender make an immediate impression, as Peter Dempsey initially topped the SRO3 timing sheets aboard the No. 100 Risi Competizione Maserati MC20 GT2.
However, following the session, the No. 100 entry was handed a penalty for a technical infraction, resulting in all qualifying times being disallowed and the car being moved to the rear of the starting grid for Race 1.
SRO3 Class
Maserati wasted no time making its presence felt in GT America powered by AWS, with Peter Dempsey delivering a standout performance in his first series appearance aboard the No. 100 Risi Competizione Maserati MC20 GT2.
Dempsey faced stiff competition from newly crowned 2026 GT America champion Memo Gidley, with the pair trading the top spot throughout the session. Gidley, behind the wheel of the No. 56 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOIII, kept the pressure on, but it was ultimately Dempsey who emerged on top to secure pole position.
Tony Davis claimed third on the grid in the No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, followed by Joel Cortes in the No. 19 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) in fourth. Scott Blind completed the top five aboard the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO.
GT4 and Cup Class
In GT4, ACI Motorsports' Damir Hot made an impressive return to GT America competition, securing the fastest time in class in his first appearance of the 2026 season aboard the No. 25 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
David Lecko followed on the combined timing sheets, leading the Cup class in the No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8.
Mike Johnson, competing in the Invitational class, was next in the No. 17 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO, while Craig Lumsden rounded out the leading group in the No. 413 Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO, securing second place among the GT4 competitors.
