- Gidley Picks Up Where He Left Off with Another Overall Pole Position

The GT America powered by AWS field took to Road America on Saturday morning for their 15-minute qualifying session, with drivers across the SRO3, GT2, GT4 and Cup classes battling for the best possible starting position ahead of Race 1 later in the day.
With little room for error around Road America’s fast and flowing 4.048-mile circuit, every lap counted. At the front of the field, Memo Gidley wasted no time establishing himself as the driver to beat, while a late push from Tony Davis and Ross Chouest set the stage for an exciting fight at the sharp end of the grid.
SRO3 Class
Memo Gidley came out of the gates flying, quickly vaulting to the top of the timesheets in his No. 56 SKI AUTOSPORTS Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII and remaining there for the entirety of the 15-minute session. Gidley’s early pace ultimately proved untouchable, earning him pole position and putting him in prime position for Saturday afternoon’s opening race.
Tony Davis looked set to mount a challenge for the top spot in his No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, but his session briefly took a dramatic turn with less than five minutes remaining when he ran off track, but the setback did little to slow his momentum. Davis quickly put together another strong flying lap, moving into second overall and securing a spot alongside Gidley on the front row.
Ross Chouest made his move in the closing laps, climbing into third in the final minutes to complete the SRO3 top three with the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Chouest will be looking to build on his previous success at Road America. The driver scored his maiden GT America victory at the circuit last year, making another strong qualifying performance particularly noteworthy as he looks to return to the top step of the podium.
GT2 and Cup Class
Lawrence Tomlinson mixed it up with the rest of the GT America field and put together a strong lap to land fourth overall. The result puts the No. 62 Team LNT Ginetta G56 GT2 entry firmly in the fight with the SRO3 competitors and gives Tomlinson a solid starting position for Race 1 on board his .
David Lecko will line up as the second Ginetta on the grid and continues his development in the Cup class as part of his full-season campaign with the No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8.
GT4 Class
Craig Lumsden returns to GT America competition in the GT4 class as he continues his full-season campaign in the No. 610 Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO. With more experience now under his belt, Lumsden will be looking to translate that familiarity into a strong race performance around one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar.
