After some testing earlier in the day, the GT America powered by AWS field took to the track Friday afternoon for their first official practice session of the weekend at Road America following the summer break period. However, after just ten minutes of running, a red flag interrupted the session, but the competitors were able to return to the track for the final ten minutes of the session. Kellymoss featured heavily at the top of the timesheets, with John Gilliland leading the pack in the No. 88 Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO, followed by teammate Michael Clark in the No. 017 Porsche. Tony Davis, who is completing double duty in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS as well, slotted himself into the top three late in the session with his No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3. GT2 class competitor Lawrence Tomlinson followed in fourth, putting in a strong run with his No. 62 Team LNT Ginetta G56 GT2. The top five was completed by championship leader Memo Gidley in his No. 56 SKI AUTOSPORTS Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII.
