The first half of the 2026 GT America season has produced dominant performances, emerging challengers, and several compelling championship storylines across the series' multiple classes. With eight races complete and the championship set to resume after the summer break, drivers are preparing for a critical run toward the season finale.
SRO3 Class
If there has been one standout performer through the opening half of the season, it has been Memo Gidley. The veteran driver leads the SRO3 championship with 193 points after putting together one of the most dominant campaigns in GT America history. Through eight races, Gidley has claimed seven victories and one second-place finish, an extraordinary run that has allowed him to build a commanding championship advantage.
Already a GT America champion, Gidley appears well on his way toward adding another title to his résumé. He has stood as the benchmark in the SRO3 field, and the rest of the grid will need a significant turnaround to prevent him from extending his advantage during the second half of the season.
Second in the standings is Tony Davis with 118 points. Davis enjoyed a breakthrough moment at Sebring, where he secured his first victory of the season. Beyond that win, he has added three runner-up finishes and a third-place result, establishing himself as one of the most consistent challengers to Gidley's dominance.
Kyle Washington rounds out the top three with 103 points. Balancing a dual campaign between GT America and GT World Challenge America competition, Washington has continued to deliver strong performances. Four podium finishes through the opening eight races have kept him firmly in the fight as he looks to build momentum during the second half of the season.
GT2 and Cup Class
The Cup class has effectively belonged to David Lecko throughout the opening half of the season. As the sole full-season entrant in the category, Lecko has consistently maximized every opportunity available to him. More impressively, he has continued to collect victories even when challenged by partial-season competitors joining the grid throughout the year, demonstrating both pace and consistency behind the wheel.
Meanwhile, the GT2 class has benefited from additional representation thanks to Lawrence Tomlinson and Ginetta. Tomlinson's appearances have added further variety to the category.
GT4 Class
Craig Lumsden leads the standings with 158 points during his first full-season GT America campaign. Lumsden's consistency throughout the opening rounds allowed him to establish control of the championship and emerge as the early favorite for class honors.
However, the complexion of the title fight changed dramatically at Sebring. Veteran competitor Jason Bell joined the GT4 field beginning at the Florida circuit and immediately made his presence felt. Since arriving, Bell has won four consecutive races, injecting new energy into the championship battle and quickly becoming the driver to beat.
While Lumsden still holds the points advantage, Bell's winning streak has ensured that the GT4 title fight remains very much alive heading into the second half of the season.
