- Tomlinson and Lecko Top in GT2 and Cup
- Bell Takes Pole in GT4
- Provisional Qualifying Results
GT America powered by AWS competitors took to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Saturday morning for qualifying ahead of Race 1 to come later this afternoon. With temperatures rising and the championship approaching its halfway point, drivers wasted no time attacking the fast and flowing Georgia circuit in search of pole position.
Memo Gidley was flawless again, earning yet another overall pole position as the leader continues to show his expertise and prowess. He will be vying for his sixth win of the season on what is home soil for the SKI Autosports team.
SRO3 Class
The session opened with Kyle Washington in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO setting the early benchmark, placing himself at the top of the timing sheets. Behind him, Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI AUTOSPORTS Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II slotted into second, while Marc Muzzo in the No. 013 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 completed the early top three.
As the session progressed, the pace intensified. By the midway point, Gidley had moved to the top ahead of Scott Blind in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO, Muzzo, Tony Davis in the No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO, and Joel Cortes in the No. 19 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3-R (992). Washington, who initially held provisional pole, had slipped to sixth as competitors continued to find time.
The SRO3 category remained the most competitive battle of the session, with nearly every new fast lap reshuffling the order as drivers pushed the limits around the 2.54-mile circuit.
In the closing stages, Gidley delivered the lap that mattered most, posting a flying lap time of 1:20.942 to secure pole position. Davis improved to second with a 1:21.187, while Muzzo added another Ferrari in the top three with a 1:21.391. Blind and Cortes rounded out the top five, with Washington ultimately qualifying sixth.
GT2 and Cup Class
Making his Road Atlanta debut in GT America competition, Lawrence Tomlinson in the No. 62 Ginetta G56 GT2 was the lone GT2 entrant and secured class pole with a best lap of 1:22.991.
The Cup class once again belonged to David Lecko in the No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8. Lecko improved to a class pole time of 1:28.778, continuing his strong form in the championship.
GT4 Class
In GT4, Jason Bell in the No. 2 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO claimed class pole with a 1:29.724, seeking to carry his strong form from Sebring into Road Atlanta.
