The GT America powered by AWS field set off for Practice 1 at Road Atlanta under bright, sunny skies, but also with elevated track temperatures. The heat will most certainly be an important factor this weekend, and the competitors across all classes used the 30 minute session as an opportunity to get acquainted with the newest stop on the calendar and the summer Georgia heat.
Todd Parriott led the way in the SRO3 class, putting his No. 13 Kellymoss Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO at the top of the timesheets. Marc Muzzo slotted into second place with his No. 013 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, just ahead of championship leader Memo Gidley in the No. 56 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII, who is hoping to celebrate another strong result for local team SKI Autosports. The top 5 was further completed by another pair of Porsches with the No. 45 Ruckus Racing car of Scott Blind and the No. 88 Kellymoss machine of John Gilliland.
