Qualifying for the GT America powered by AWS season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway took place under bright skies and chilly weather. The session was cut short due to an incident that brought out a red flag, but not before the grid was set across all three classes, laying the groundwork for what is sure to be a thrilling finale on the Brickyard’s road course.
Early in the session, George Kurtz established himself as the driver to beat, putting the No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 on provisional pole with a blistering lap before the session was halted with eight minutes remaining. The red flag, caused by the No. 62 machine making contact with the tire barriers at Turn 6, brought the session to a premature end. The car had been leading the GT2 class before its time was deleted for triggering the stoppage.
When the dust settled, Memo Gidley slotted into second place overall in the No. 56 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII, continuing his strong late-season form. Mirco Schultis secured third aboard the distinctive Callaway Competition USA Corvette, with championship leader Justin Rothberg lining up just behind in fourth place in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3.
Rounding out the top five was Jason Bell, who delivered a steady and composed performance in the No. 2 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.
In the GT4 class, Mike Johnson clinched pole position in the No. 007 Archangel Motorsports with Pro-Sport Competition Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, while Jozsef Petkes followed closely in second aboard the No. 83 RCX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
CJ Moses will start from the GT2 class front row aboard his No. 58 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2.
With the GT America powered by AWS championship on the line and the season drawing to a close at one of the most iconic venues in motorsport, all eyes will be on the green flag tomorrow as the field battles for final glory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
