The GT America Season So Far

The GT America Season So Far

As the 2025 GT America powered by AWS championship charges past the halfway point, the intensity of the title fight is at a season-high. With razor-thin margins in a very competitive landscape, every lap and every position has proven crucial in the chase for the crown.

SRO3 Class

The SRO3 class has delivered a relentless, race-by-race duel between two standout competitors: Justin Rothberg in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 and Kyle Washington in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R. Both drivers have notched three wins, three second-place finishes, and a third-place result apiece, a testament to the level of competition and consistency between the two.

The difference between them? Just two points. That slim margin was established at the very first round of the season at Sonoma Raceway, where Rothberg moved ahead of Washington by a single position, finishing fifth to Washington’s sixth. Those two extra points have proven pivotal, with Rothberg currently leading the standings with 154 points, and Washington sitting at 152.

With such a narrow gap and multiple rounds remaining, this battle is far from settled.

GT4 Class

In the GT4 class, Anthony McIntosh has set the benchmark in the No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4. With four wins and two second-place finishes, he has amassed a commanding 136 points at the midway mark.

The closest challenger was Max Hewitt in the No. 39 van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO, who claimed two victories and a pair of runner-up finishes to keep the pressure on. However, with Hewitt now shifting his focus to the Pirelli GT4 America series for the remainder of the year, the dynamic in GT America’s GT4 class has shifted.

The question heading into the final stretch is whether another contender will emerge to challenge McIntosh for the championship, or if the JTR Motorsports Engineering driver will continue his dominant run to the title uncontested.
