Blake McDonald, Anthony McIntosh Maintain Top Spots In Practice 2 at Sebring

After a sweltering first practice Thursday afternoon at Sebring International Raceway, GT America powered by AWS competitors met somewhat cooler Friday morning temperatures for second practice in their only session of the day conquering Sebring’s iconic bumps. 

After pacing SRO3 and GT4 on Thursday, Blake McDonald and Anthony McIntosh sought to continue atop the timesheets. They both did so, with McDonald improving throughout the session in SRO3 and McIntosh leading from the start in GT4.

SRO3 Class

Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI Autosports Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVOII and Mirco Schultis in his No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette Z06R GT3 exchanged the top spot early, separated by only 0.052 of a second before Gidley improved to a 2:02.653. On his sixth lap, he turned in a 2:01.746 which was the fastest lap of the weekend to date. 

Blake McDonald then had a stellar lap with 11 minutes and 11 seconds left in the session, taking his No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R to a better 2:01.607 time that moved ahead of Gidley by 0.139 of a second. He continued to lower the bar with a 2:01.084 on his 10th lap of the session with just under seven minutes remaining.

Kyle Washington improved to third in his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R, ahead of   Justin Rothberg in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO and Schultis in his No. 70 Corvette.   

GT4 Class

As he was on Thursday, Anthony McIntosh maintained momentum in GT4 in his No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO2. McIntosh set a best time of 2:12.567 that led the field ahead of Farhan Siddiqi, in his No. 20 FASTMD Racing with Remstar Audi R8 GT4 LMS, and Michael Fitzpatrick in his No. 89 89x Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.
