- Sabo Storms to the Top of the SRO3 charts
- Hewitt Makes it a Double in GT4
- Practice 2 Results
The GT America powered by AWS field returned for Practice 2 at Circuit of The Americas in the early afternoon, with another 30 minutes at their disposal to test their limits and fine-tune their setups ahead of Saturday morning’s qualifying session.
Elias Sabo soared to the top of the leaderboard in the SRO3, while Max Hewitt went fastest again in the GT4 class.
SRO3 Class
Multiple drivers were in contention for the top spot on the leaderboard in the afternoon session, continuously one-upping each other as the minutes elapsed. With just under ten minutes remaining, Kyle Washington made a statement by going quickest in his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R, temporarily seizing control of the leaderboard.
Not long after, Elias Sabo delivered an impressive lap to move into second with less than five minutes to go. However, Sabo wasn't done yet, and on his very next flyer he went even faster, taking over the top position with his No. 80 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
After setting the pace in the opening session earlier in the day, Blake McDonald was once again a major factor in the fight for the top spot in his No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R. He remained among the frontrunners throughout the session, ultimately securing third place by the time the session ended.
Marc Muzzo made a strong late-session push in the No. 13 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, climbing into the top five and ultimately claiming fourth place, while Justin Rothberg rounded out the top 5 with a solid performance of his own on board the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
GT4 Class
The GT4 class was equally competitive, headlined by a familiar duel between Anthony McIntosh and Max Hewitt. The pair traded fastest laps throughout the session in their respective entries, with McIntosh in the No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4, and Hewitt in the No. 39 van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO. In the closing stages, it was Hewitt who managed to pull ahead of McIntosh, securing the quickest time in class.
Denny Stripling remained a factor in the mix, piloting the No. 188 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO and claiming the third-best time ahead of Michael Auriemma in the No. 47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
