The 50th anniversary of the Grand Prix of Long Beach is just a few more months away, with many exciting activities planned to mark the occasion. The third and fourth rounds of the GT America powered by AWS championship will see competitors take on the narrow corners and concrete walls of the street circuit, racing in front of thousands of passionate fans from across the continent.
When looking back at how the 2024 event unfolded, there was no shortage of excitement across all three SRO3, GT2, and GT4. The upcoming season will bring new changes, but there’s always time to revisit the everlasting memories.
SRO3 in the Streets
Leading the charge in the SRO3 Class last year was Jason Daskalos, who etched his name in Long Beach history by dominating both races. His relentless battle with seasoned competitors Johnny O’Connell and James Sofronas—who each took podium finishes—showcased why the Grand Prix of Long Beach is the crown jewel of GT racing, with the tight confines providing the perfect stage.
Precision and Power in the GT2 Class
The GT2 Class delivered more show-stopping moments as Dan Knox secured a double victory, fending off pressure from Aaron Fahardi and Brent Holden who were hot on his heels. With such small margins for error, precision and focus were key as these high-horsepower beasts danced between the iconic walls of Long Beach.
GT4 Showdowns, Where Youth and Experience Collide
The GT4 Class is where future stars are forged, and in 2024, Isaac Sherman proved he’s one to watch. He delivered a perfect weekend, taking both wins, which marked his second of many clean sweeps of the season. Adding to the intrigue were one-off entries like Robb Holland and Samantha Tan, who brought excitement to last year’s races with podium-worthy performances.
A Fast-Paced Spectacle
Long Beach is synonymous with speed, and last year’s races delivered in spades. Daskalos set the fastest lap of the entire weekend across all classes, clocking an electrifying 1:19.511 in Race 1. Meanwhile, Isaac Sherman showcased the agility of the GT4 machines, consistently breaking the 1:26 barrier in both races.
In total, there were 60 laps of green-flag racing across two days. The narrow margins and unrelenting pace of Long Beach make every lap a masterclass in precision, and 2025 promises more of the same.
