Rothberg, Siddiqi Fastest in Practice 1 at the National Park of Speed

Following yesterday’s heavy rain, the sun finally came out to play just in time for the GT America powered by AWS field to take to the track for their first practice session of the weekend at Road America. The track surface was damp but continued to dry up throughout the session, allowing competitors to gradually test their limits.

In the SRO3 class, it was championship contender Justin Rothberg who put up the fastest time on the board, with a lap time of 2:18.878 in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. Comparatively, in the GT4 category, it was Farhan Siddiqi who set the pace in his No. 95 FASTMD Racing with Remstar Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 with a time of 2:29.866.

SRO3 Class

Justin Rothberg got up to speed quickly at Road America, setting the fastest overall time in the session on his fourth flying lap in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. Behind him, Jason Daskalos and Mirco Shultis swapped positions back and forth in their respective No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 and No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette Z06R GT3. In the end, it was the latter who managed to edge ahead to claim the second-quickest time.

Ross Chouest continued to make progress in his No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, occupying the fourth spot on the timesheets, while Elias Sabo got familiarized with his brand new No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT3, following just behind in fifth place.

GT4 Class

It looked as though points leader Isaac Sherman would reclaim the top spot on the leaderboard in his No. 98 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport as he firmly held the fastest time for the majority of the session. However, on the final flying lap, newcomer to the GT4 class Farhan Siddiqi stormed into first place with his No. 95 FASTMD Racing with Remstar Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4.

Sherman finished the session in second, with the third-fastest time belonging to Wisconsin native Nicholas Shanny in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82. Todd Parriott also had a productive session, competing Practice 1 in fourth on board the No. 31 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, while Alan Grossberg, another new entry in the GT4 category, completed the Top 5 in his No. 102 TPC Racing McLaren Artura GT4.
