GT Sprint Stars Roar into the National Park of Speed

Road America is set to welcome a determined field of competitors in GT3 and GT4 machinery as the GT America powered by AWS championship heads to the National Park of Speed for the eleventh and twelfth rounds of the season. From August 16th to 18th, all eyes will be locked on the action as 19 entries battle it out for vital championship points.

Fans can anticipate more than just thrilling races. On Thursday, August 15th, a full-field car parade will wind through the streets of Elkhart Lake, providing an up-close look at SRO America’s stunning array of race cars. Throughout the weekend, spectators can enjoy various activities, including open paddock access, autograph sessions, a Car Corral, and the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS pre-race grid walk on Sunday.

SRO3 Class 
 
Johnny O’Connell returned to victory lane at VIR with his No. 3 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3. After putting in strong performances across the board, he moved up into the SRO3 class championship lead ahead of Jason Daskalos in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Meanwhile, Justin Rothberg, driver of the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, claimed his first win of the season, in addition to a further second-place finish. The big points haul saw him break into the Top 3 in the standings.  
 
Jason Bell also made his first podium appearance of the year in the No. 02 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO. He will be joined by teammate Elias Sabo in the No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 as well. Tim Savage is set to command the final Aston Martin entry in the No. 007 ProSport Competition car. 
 
Ross Chouest finished just shy of the podium in both races at VIR, and coming into Road America he will be aiming to emerge as one of the frontrunners in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3. 

GMG Racing are represented by Kyle Washington in the No. 32 Porsche 992 GT3 R and James Sofronas in the No. 14 Audi R8 LMS GT3. Additionally, Mirco Schultis returns to the SRO3 competition with his No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Callaway Corvette Z06R GT3 after an absence from the prior four rounds.

GT4 Class

Isaac Sherman has further extended his lead in the GT4 championship after securing a first and second place finish on board his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. He has stood on the podium in every single round thus far, but Curt Swearingin in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS has been the only one on the grid who has managed to snatch away a couple of wins of his own. Gray Newell continues to occupy third in the standings with his No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.  
 
Damir Hot had a strong weekend in Virginia, rounding off the top three in both races with his No. 05 Flying Lizard Motorsports Nissan Z NISMO GT4. He will be joined once again by teammate Todd Parriott in the No. 31 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.

Nicholas Shanny is gearing up for an action-packed weekend of racing at his home track in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82. Finally, Farhan Siddiqi will be back on the grid in the No. 95 FASTMD Racing with Remstar Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4, while Alan Grossberg, who previously competed in the GT2 class, makes the switch to the GT4 category with the No. 102 TPC Racing McLaren Artura GT4.
