GT America Field Pushes Hard in VIR Practice 2

The GT America powered by AWS field braved the heat for their Practice 2 session as the Virginia heat began to make its presence known. The drivers utilized the thirty minute session to finalize their setups before they return for a Qualifying showdown on Saturday morning. 

Justin Rothberg continued to show his blistering pace from the morning in the SRO3 class in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. In the GT4 class, it was Curt Swearingin who stood out in his No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. 

SRO3 Class

Following his rapid pace in the morning practice session, Justin Rothberg was quick to re-establish himself as the frontrunner in Practice 2 as well, setting fastest laps one after the next in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. 

Jason Daskalos followed closely in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Johnny O’Connell accompanying him in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3. The two went back and forth before O’Connell went on to take hold over second place, with Daskalos in third. 

Jason Bell had a solid session in the No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO, while Ross Chouest made another appearance in the Top 5 on board the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3. 

GT4 Class

Curt Swearingin was the one to beat in the GT4 class as he maintained the lead throughout almost the entirety of Practice 2 in his No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. He also clocked in the most laps out of anyone in the session, with 16 in total. 

Gray Newell was the runner-up in his No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, with Damir Hot entering the Top 3 in his No. 05 Flying Lizard Motorsports Nissan Z NISMO GT4 after completing his final flying lap. 

Isaac Sherman and Nicholas Shanny rounded off the Top 5 in their respective No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82 machines.
