The GT America powered by AWS field kicked off the weekend action in the Lone Star State by taking to the track early Friday morning for Practice 1. Competitors across the SRO3, GT2, and GT4 classes utilized the 30-minute session to test their limits around Circuit of The Americas.
George Kurtz posted the fastest time overall and the SRO3 class in his No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3, with a rapid lap time of 2:05.804 moving him to the top spot. Alan Grossberg was the quickest in his No. 102 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 in the GT2 class. Curt Swearingin set the fastest lap in the GT4 class aboard his No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
SRO3 Class
Jason Daskalos was quick to set the pace in his No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, remaining at the top of the timing sheets for the majority of the session before George Kurtz followed up to post the fastest flying lap time of 2:05.804 on board his No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3, standing out as the only driver to break into the 2:05 mark.
Justin Rothberg followed in third place in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, keeping very close to the frontrunners. The Top 5 was further completed by Ross Chouest in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Johnny O'Connell in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3.
GT2 Class
Alan Grossberg maximized his time on track in the opening practice session in his No. 102 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, completing a total of 11 laps. He clocked in his fastest time on his 10th lap, with a lap time of 2:14.560 earning him the ninth fastest time overall in Practice 1.
GT4 Class
Curt Swearingin was the one to beat in the GT4 class, setting a time of 2:15.769 in his No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to move him to the top of the class leaderboard ahead of Gray Newell in the No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.
Isaac Sherman was in the mix as well in his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, setting the third fastest time in the GT4 class, in addition to clocking in 12 laps in total across the session, the most out of any driver in Practice 1. The Top 5 was rounded off by Nicholas Shanny in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 (G82) and Michael Auriemma in the No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4.
