By the end of the session, he had put nearly half a second between himself and the second-quickest time of the session, set by Jason Daskalos in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 with a time of 2:01.655.
Miami resident Justin Rothberg followed in third place in his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, getting up to speed quickly in his first official practice session at Sebring. Alan Grossberg took full advantage of the session in his No. 102 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, setting the fastest time in the GT2 class with a lap time of 2:08.883, which was the eighth fastest time overall in Practice 1.
GT4 Class
It was a true toss up for positions in the GT4 Class, with multiple drivers contending for the top spot. Gray Newell rose to the top early in the No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, before Isaac Sherman went on to replace him at the top of the leaderboard in his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
However, it was Curt Swearingin who had the last word in the opening practice session, setting the fastest time on board his No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, with Sherman and Newell following in second and third. The Top 5 was rounded off by Todd Parriott in the No. 31 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 and Nicholas Shanny in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 (G82).
