GT America powered by AWS returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Oct. 4-8 for its season finale races as part of the Indianapolis-8 Hour powered by AWS event. The SRO3 and GT4 Class are rejoined by the GT2 Class, making the series a true display of GT prowess. 

The field of 26 races on Friday, Oct. 6, and Sunday, Oct. 8. The Indianapolis 8 Hour, taking place Saturday, Oct. 7, split the two races, giving drivers and teams time to ramp up their efforts before the final race of the 2023 race season. 

SRO3 Class

George Kurtz in the No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 took home wins in Race One and Race Two in 2022. He’ll fight for his return to the top position against two very competitive foes duking it out for the championship. Memo Gidley in the No. 101 TKO Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Jason Daskalos in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG will be his toughest competitors and they continue their championship dual. Daskalos teammate Todd Treffert No. 41 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 will lean on his teammate for experience on the IMS street course.

Adam Adelson in the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R gained ground at Sebring International Raceway with momentum he could find himself on the podium at Indianapolis. Johnny O’Connell in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS is never one to be counted out with his vast experience and skill set on any track.

Mirco Schultis in the No. 70 MISHUMOTORS Corvette C7 GT3 R will represent the American brand as the OEM displays their future with the all-new Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Andy Wilzoch in the No. 460 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 R has had a consistent, friendly competition with the No. 043 OnlyFans Racing by P1 Groupe with MRS Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Scott Smithson in the No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 returns to action in the series, as does Kyle Washington and his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R. Marc Austin in the No. 011 Lone Star Racing/ Mad Joker Mercedes-AMG GT3 joins the field for the first time this season as does John Roberts in the No. 11 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT3.

GT2 Class

The GT2 Class returns to the GT America series for the first time this season. Three cars challenge for a win at Indianapolis. The No. 58 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2 of CJ Moses was the lone GT2 entrant for the class in 2022. The No. 80 LoneStar Racing Mercedes-AMG GT2 of Dan Knox is joined by newcomer Kevin Woods in the No. 94 Chicago Performance & Tuning, Co. KTM X-Bow GT2. 

GT4 Class

Ross Chouest in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 followed Kurtz’s lead, taking home back-to-back race wins in 2022. He’ll have to overtake Jason Bell and his No. 2 Flying Lizards Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 on track and in points to make his 2022 championship a repeat as well. Bell is the current Driver’s Points Championship Leader. Tony Gaples in the No. 5 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R took home the win in Race Two at Sebring International Raceway and could keep the championship hunt interesting if he brings momentum to Indianapolis.

The championship conversation is not complete without the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche 917 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Robb Holland who has been a consistent podium conversation. Gray Newell in the No. 25 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 has held steady in his championship rank but with Gaples’ Sebring win he’ll need to fight for a fourth-place finish. Scott Blind has picked up speed in the No. 045 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 and will be in search of his first podium of the season.

Nicholas Shanny in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO has his work cut out for him with the No. 009 TRG Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Tim Savage gaining ground as the driver gains experience. The No. 13 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Todd Parriott will have the experience of his team to lean on to finish the season strong.
