Bright skies and cold, clear air surrounded the valley of Sonoma Raceway for an early GT America powered by AWS qualifying session. The 15-minute qualifying session set the grid for Race One of the GT Sonoma protected by Crowdstrike weekend. Shaking up the competition was a pair of Porsche race cars which stopped the Mercedes AMG and Aston Martin AMR domination.
SRO3 Class
Adam Adelson with Wright Motorsports in the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R took the Rowe Pole Award. He won the pole on a near last-minute flyer. He beat out the No. 101 TKO Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT3 of Memo Gidley by under a second. The Adelson’s lap time was 1:37.801 verse the 1:38.499 of Gidley. Starting third on the grid is Anthony Bartone of RealTime Racing in the No. 427 Mercedes AMG GT3.
GT4 Class
In the No. 99 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, Robb Holland won the pole with a 1:46.171 lap. The Porsche led a host of Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 cars. Second is the No. 69 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Todd Coleman, who looks to pick up where he left off at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Third is Ross Chouest, Round 1 winner, in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin AMR GT4.
