GT America powered by AWS Qualifying Report for Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

Qualifying took place nearly immediately following Practice Two on the street course of the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. With barely enough time to catch a breath GT America powered by AWS teams kept focused and went to work. Race One will be a race of attrition as the sun sets on the field of 22 making qualifying well of utmost importance.

SRO3 Class Qualifying

Scott Smithson of DXDT Racing and Mercedes-AMG continued to rank supreme winning the first SRO3 Class pole of the 2023 season. The No. 08 Mercedes-AMG GT3 ran a 1:13.012 to set the session's fastest lap. George Kurtrz in his Crowdstrike by Riley No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will start second after running a 1:13.715. He was followed by James Sofronas who turned a 1:137.48 in the GMG Racing No. 14 Audi R8- LMS. Jeff Burton and the DXDT Racing No. 91 Mercedes-AMG GT3 start fourth and Memo Gidley in the TKO Motorsports No. 101 Mercedes-AMG GT3 rounds out the top five.

GT4 Class Qualifying

Todd Coleman and the Archangel Motorsports team took the pole with a 1:18.606 in his No. 69 Aston Martin Vantage AMR. Local boy Jason Bell ran a 1:18.821 setting him up for a second-place start in his Flying Lizard Motorsports No. 2 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. Third-place was earned with a 1:19.054 lap time of Gray Newell in the No. 25 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. Ross Choest and Moisey Uretsky start fourth and fifth for Race One in a pair of Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. 

Race One is set to go green at 5:55 p.m. ET. The streets of St. Petersburg get a second show Saturday, March 4 at 12:15 p.m.
