Practice One kicked off on-track action at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg for GT America powered by AWS and the 2023 SRO Motorsports America. A collection of 22 GT cars and drivers took to the track under the warm Florida sun as a strong breeze swept over.

While some teams found themselves shaking off the dust of the off-season with a few missed turns the session was overall clean.

In the SRO3 Class

Jason Daskalos in the No. 27 Vintage 423/ CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Daskalos Motorsports finished Practice One top of the charts with a lap time of 1:13.904. Scott Smithson and his DXDT Racing No. 8 Qelo Capital Mercedes-AMG GT3 was one second behind Daskalos. George Kurtz with the No. 4 Crowdstrike/AWS/OpMo Mercedes-AMG GT3 was third with a lap time of 1:15.233. James Sofronas followed in fourth with a 1:15.732 in the GMG Racing No. 14 GMG Racing/ EBOOST/ Mobil 1 Audi R8-LMS. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Jeff Burton and DXDT Racing ranked out of the top five. 

In the GT4 Class

Hometown Hero Jason Bell in the Flying Lizard Motorsports No. 2 Fidelis Capital/ Meat Market/ P1 Garages/ Apex Motor Club Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 finished practice in first with a 1:20.332 lap time. In Second was Todd Coleman and the No. 69 eStruxture Data Centers Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Archangel Motorsports with a 1:20.522. Third place was Gray Newell turning a 1:20.943 lap in the Heart of Racing No. 25 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, fourth place was Moisey Uretsky in the Accelerating Performance No. 55 Baby Bull Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 turning a 1:21.045, and Thomas Collingwood with a 1:22.191 lap in the No. 81 Atlantic Cultivation/Suncoast Autowerks of BGB Motorsports.

Practice 2 begins at 12:25 p.m. ET. This is a schedule change due to promoter technical issues delaying the start of the day.
