- Davis Holds Off Late Challenge for Second
- GT2, Cup and GT4 Classes Reach Checkered Flag in Dramatic Fashion
- Race 2 Provisional Results
GT America powered by AWS wrapped up its Road Atlanta weekend on Sunday afternoon with another action-packed 40-minute sprint. While Memo Gidley continued his dominant championship campaign in SRO3, battles throughout the field and a thrilling finish among the GT2, Cup and GT4 competitors provided plenty of excitement as the series heads toward the second half of the season.
SRO3 Class
Starting from pole position, Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI AUTOSPORTS Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II immediately found himself under pressure from Tony Davis in the No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO as the green flag flew, while Marc Muzzo in the No. 013 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 challenged Scott Blind in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO in the opening corners.
Despite the early pressure, Gidley quickly began establishing control of the race. Just two laps in, the championship leader started building a gap at the front while simultaneously setting the fastest sectors on track. Within only a few laps, his advantage had grown to nearly three seconds over Davis.
Further back, Kyle Washington in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO found himself under increasing pressure from Joel Cortes in the No. 19 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) after a small mistake while navigating traffic. The battle intensified throughout the opening half of the race, and Cortes eventually capitalized on another error from Washington to move ahead.
However, Cortes’ position was far from secure. After a less-than-ideal Turn 1 on Lap 7, Blind closed the gap and threatened to insert himself into the fight as the three drivers continued battling over the final podium positions.
The battle for second tightened significantly in the closing minutes. Davis remained comfortably in second for much of the race, but Cortes and Washington steadily reeled him in, creating a three-car fight as the checkered flag approached.
At the front, none of the late-race drama affected Gidley. The SKI AUTOSPORTS driver remained untouchable and crossed the line to secure his seventh victory of the season. Davis successfully held on for second, while Cortes completed the podium ahead of Washington and Blind. Further back, Dave Musial Sr. in the No. 72 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO narrowly held off teammate Jon Manship in the No. 216 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R (992) EVO after an entertaining battle between the two Porsche drivers.
“It’s unbelievable,” said Gidley after the race. “Kent and Melissa have given me an incredible opportunity. This team is one of the best groups I’ve ever worked with. Everybody gets the job done, and we’re all grateful to be here. We take it one race at a time, but it’s awesome to be in a position where we’re winning a lot of races.”

GT2 & Cup Class
The GT2 and Cup competitors once again found themselves in the middle of the SRO3 traffic, creating several compelling battles throughout the race.
Lawrence Tomlinson in the No. 62 Team LNT Ginetta G56 GT2 wasted no time moving forward, passing both CJ Moses in the No. 58 Random Vandals Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO and Manship on the opening lap despite competing in a different class. The GT2 machine’s horsepower advantage continued to shine, allowing Tomlinson to overtake Musial on Lap 3.
Late in the race, Tomlinson experienced a snap of oversteer while running ahead of Musial and Manship. Both Wright Motorsports drivers were forced to take evasive action and moved ahead while Tomlinson recovered.
Meanwhile, David Lecko in the No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8 found himself in an entertaining battle with Jason Bell in the No. 2 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO. Although competing in separate classes, the two drivers spent multiple laps racing closely for overall track position.
The race concluded with one of the most dramatic finishes of the weekend as Tomlinson, Bell, Lecko and Craig Lumsden in the No. 413 Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO crossed the line in a tightly packed group, running three-wide out of the final corner.
Tomlinson secured another GT2 victory, while Lecko continued his unbeaten Cup campaign with another class win.

GT4 Class
GT4 once again featured a battle between Bell and Lumsden, with both drivers overcoming challenges throughout the weekend.
After retiring from Race 1 due to an air-conditioning issue, Lumsden returned to action and brought the BMW home to the finish, while Bell delivered another consistent performance aboard the Aston Martin. The two competitors spent portions of the race running closely together and ultimately reached the checkered flag as part of the dramatic four-car pack that included Tomlinson and Lecko, providing an exciting conclusion to the Road Atlanta weekend.
