14 April 2022 GT America

AR-G Motorsports will partner with Rotek Racing to campaign the MetaVC Partners Ford Mustang GT4 in SRO GT4 America and GT America. Three-time United States Touring Car champion Edgar Lau and veteran Ford factory driver Billy Johnson will run in the GT4 America season opener and 2020 USTCC GT winner Chris Alliegro will compete in the 2nd round of GT America at Sonoma on April 15-17.

Edgar Lau jump started his racing career in 2014 through the Nissan Playstation GT Academy, which trained the world’s best sim drivers to compete in real race cars. Since then, Lau has competed in Asia and Europe in categories including TCR, GT, LMP podium finishes in the Asian Le Mans Series Sprint Cup, Road to Le Mans, and the Macau GP before returning stateside to compete in USTCC for AR-G Motorsports. “I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to compete in the GT4 America championship this year, materializing a vision I have for AR-G Motorsports to progress up the ladder of pro racing in the United States with the help of Rotek Racing. It is also a big step for me to race alongside teams and drivers I highly respect. I look forward to learning as much as I can from Robb and my massively experienced co-driver, Billy. All of this would not have been possible without the trust and support of my friends at MetaVC Partners.”

Chris Alliegro, founder and managing partner at MetaVC, will start the Ford Mustang GT4 in round 2 of GT America. After joining AR-G Motorsports as a team driver in 2018, Chris made big strides under the guidance of AR-G Motorsports’ driver development program that translated into wins and podiums in USTCC and ultimately the 2020 GT class championship in his Ford Performance Mustang. Regarding his first foray into the SRO GTA series, Alliegro said, “Well, I’m looking forward to another desperately challenging season honing my skills chasing faster drivers. I’ve always felt the best way to improve at anything is to check my ego and jump into the deep end. From what I’ve seen, the waters in SRO are pretty deep. I can’t wait!”

“This is shaping up to be an exciting and momentous year for AR-G Motorsports as the team steps up to higher levels of motorsports competition. Earlier this year we competed for the first time in the Asian Le Mans Series for a pair of top 5 GT3 finishes, and now we set our sights on the SRO GT World Challenge America,” said Doug Makishima, AR- G team principal. “We have high expectations for Edgar Lau, AR-G team driver and principal, given his impressive track record across different series, categories and continents, and are also confident that Chris Alliegro will leverage his experience gained from our driver development program and along with his familiarity with the Mustang platform to be competitive in his first SRO GTA race.”

“We are thrilled and proud to support Team ARG pro driver Edgar Lau in his first foray in SRO’s GT4 America series,” said MetaVC founder and managing partner Chris Alliegro. “Joining such a competitive series is a natural step for Edgar after his mind- blowing performance at last year’s Monterey Grand Prix at Laguna Seca and his strong finish at the 2021 SCCA National Runoff at Indy. We can’t wait to see him test and hone his skills against some of the world’s top touring car drivers.”

The SRO Pirelli GT4 America season kicks off at Sonoma Raceway on April 15-17. All SRO GT4 America races are streamed live on the GTWorld YouTube channel and broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
